Let me start this post by saying this...I don't think I have ever worked harder while shooting a wedding as I did for Tara and Jorge's big day! Not because I felt like I needed to or prove anything to anyone, but simply because absolutely everywhere I looked, there was something even more beautiful to photograph! My mind was literally a whirlwind and it was awesome! Matt from Capture Studios came along to film the wedding and we had about a 14 hour shooting day...and every bit of it was absolutely amazing!

Weddings are not-that-big-of-a-deal in this region. Normally, it is a very small and intimate time with close family and friends, so Tara and Jorge's day was a straight up Affair! Their ceremony took place in a little village, just outside of Santiago, where Jorge grew up and the reception was inside the oldest hotel in the world. Yes...you heard me...THE OLDEST HOTEL IN THE WORLD! It's called the Parador de Santiago de Compostela and it was originally a hospital for all of the pilgrims who had made their journey to Santiago. It was founded in the 1499 by the infamous Isabella and Ferdinand...you know, the couple who funded Christopher Columbus on his journey to America, yeah, them! It was turned into a hotel in the 1920's and sits right at the foot of the Cathedral.

As we walked through the streets of Santiago, the people cheered, pointed and applauded the couple. Tara and Jorge were kind-of-a-big-deal on their big day, and I would have it no other way! In fact, at one point, a local asked us, "Is this a real wedding or for a magazine?" The couple was even considered straight up royalty! At the head table, during their reception, there was a gold table piece that is only brought out for the King and Queen. Tara managed to score it for her wedding...classic!

Above all the extravagance of their day, the ideas were so simple. This amazing couple, who came from two very different worlds, were joining together - and also joining together their families, friends and culture. Their wedding was a truly classic affair that I will never forget!

Make sure to check out Part 1 of Tara and Jorge's shoot here!

Congratulations to Tara and Jorge on such an amazing wedding and for being such a great couple for our 2010 Wedding Giveaway! It was a dream come true for everyone involved!

LOVEe

P.s..and I think, for the record, this makes me World-Wide-International...right!?!?!

Tara and Jorge are a very special couple for so many reasons! They have all of the element of a classic love story to the T. In fact, while I was photographing their wedding day, I couldn't keep from thinking how it felt like we were living in a movie...the perfect chick-flick, even!

Tara is from small-town Iowa and Jorge is from a village in Spain. When Tara was in college, she traveled to Santiago de Compostela to study for a few months. When she arrived back in the states, the time came to graduate and begin filling out job applications and she realized America was not the place for her. She had fallen in love with Santiago, so that was that. She up and moved back to Spain to begin her career as an English teacher...not knowing that she would meet the man of her dreams!

Jorge and Tara met soon after her return and the rest is history for these two. I can't imagine a more romantic place to fall in love. Spain just oozes romance. When it came time to plan her wedding, Tara wanted the perfect marriage of Spanish and American elements. At the top of her list was an American photographer and I just-so-happened to be hosting a little wedding-giveaway-contest! I immediately fell in love with their story and so did the public, who voted Tara and Jorge as the 2010 Wedding Giveaway winners!

I could not imagine a more deserving couple! Tara and Jorge have an incredibly real and strong love and have worked so hard to create a great life for themselves. They are determined, vibrant and passionate about life....exactly what I was looking for!

There are SO many beautiful images from their day and it was so difficult for me to narrow them down to a single blog post, SO...a special treat! This wedding will have a Part 1 and Part 2 feature on the blog!

And now for the moment we have all been waiting for...

So much more to come tomorrow!

Enjoy!

LOVEe

This past weekend was Hope and Matt's amazing wedding! Despite some torrential downpours that morning, the skies cleared and the sun came out - and everything went absolutely perfectly! I must say, the gale-force winds did stick around and I have to give this wedding party props! They trekked the city of St. Paul with me for their photos, despite the wind and I'm so thankful they did, the photos are amazing!

This wedding was very much so centered around family and opportunity. Hope and her sister were adopted from Korea as little girls and the amount of love that her parents show for her and Matt is truly remarkable. They gave Hope and her sister so much opportunity for a better life, and Hope and Matt's life is even more enriched by each other! Matt's family is also welcoming of Hope...to say the least! I remember at a consultation with them before the wedding, Matt referred to his family as "Chinese, Crazy and Incredibly Fun". Both the Ekern's and the Chu's lived up to their fantastic reputations! Here are some of my favorite shots from their day!

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Chu!

Felicia and Sean are an amazing couple! I could really go on and on about these two, but the one thing that has always stuck out to me is their true passion for one another. They are totally and completely comfortable in each others company, no matter who else is around!

Felicia and Sean's wedding stayed true to their values on all levels. Faith, love and their extremely awesome style made their wedding such a pleasure to photograph! Not to mention, these two are absolutely stunning together!

Congratulations to the newlyweds!!
