WHEW!!!!!

I have been looking forward to LeAnna and Dave's wedding for SO long! I absolutely loooove getting to know my clients really well before their big day and I felt like I had a really good sense of who these two were by the time they got hitched!

LeAnna and Dave's day was bittersweet. Dave's father passed away only months before the wedding and even though everyone knew how much he wanted to be present, you could absolutely feel how present he was this day. Needless to say it was a very emotional wedding, but very refreshing to see family and friends celebrating life!

LeAnna is just as cute as a button and she totally rocked her vintage gown and Dave wore his father's cuff links! The couple's wedding reception took place at one of my favorite locations in Minneapolis, the Semple Mansion.

Sometimes I sit down to write a blog post and I come up with a serious case of writers block. Sometimes I sit down to write a blog post and I have SO many thoughts in my head that I don't even know where to begin! So, bear with me, I'm just going to blurb out some thoughts for a while.

At Sarah and David's wedding, there was an older couple there who I assumed was married. They were fabulous together - laughing, joking, and very, very complimentary of each other. I asked them, "How long have you been married?" He replied, "Oh no, we're not married my dear! I keep asking her and she keeps telling me no! See, now watch, 'Darlin', Will You Marry Me?" and she replied, " Hell no!" And they continued to burst out in laughter!

This couple has been together for 13 years and it doesn't matter to them if they are married or not, because they are truly in love. A ring, a party, the dress, a legal contract - none of that matters, just the fact that they simply want to be together.

After having this conversation, I watched Sarah and David. The more I watched, the more I realized that they had these same qualities and there is no doubt in my mind that they will be last, because they choose to be together. The choose to make each other laugh and smile, push and support each other and that is what matter the most. They chose and they chose perfectly!

It's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear.
She puts on her make-up and brushes her long blonde hair.
And then she asks me, "Do I look all right?"
And I say, "Yes, you look wonderful tonight."

We go to a party and everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady that's walking around with me.
And then she asks me, "Do you feel all right?"
And I say, "Yes, I feel wonderful tonight."

I feel wonderful because I see
The love light in your eyes.
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize how much I love you.

My favorite part of Erla and Andrew's day was the father-of-the-bride singing the words above.

It was a true celebration!

This past week, while on the Bend [Trip], I had some time to think and discuss life, love and all it's possibilities with some wonderful women. Sometimes you don't realize something until you say it out loud. And I realized something BIG! I've felt frustrated with myself recently. As an artist, as a photographer and as a person. I couldn't figure out where or why I had these feelings, I mean, I have the best job in the world, right?

Then, I said it. I'm a people pleaser. I love to make people happy. And I know that my images make my client's dreams come true. However, the artist within me needs something more. I need to remember to make myself happy with my images to keep things fresh and creative. I need to make myself happy before I can continue to make others happy.

Thus, I have decided to take my blog back! I will continue to post images from weddings and all our other shenanigans,  but instead of posting images that I know my clients, magazine editors, etc will like, I am going to post the images that I personally LOVE!

"How many cares one loses when one decides not to be SOMETHING but to be SOMEONE."

~ Coco Chanel

Cheers to Happiness!

hi Eliesa ! I just discovered your work by your blog, greetings for all, great stuff here ! I think you are right to post images YOU like... I think an artist depends a lot of the points of view of her/his clients, but more of HIS point of view and the ablility to judge it: if you don't like some pics or less than other ones, why and how could they be liked by others ?! And customers are choosing you for your capacity of dissociating good pics of bad ones. Sorry for any language faults, I hope you will understand what I want to tell you !
I'll be surely and oftenly back for the inspiration you gave me tonight !)
