Amy and Jamieson are a couple who compliments and supports each other, no matter what they are pursuing in life. Whether that be school, a career or a move across the country, they are always there. Their love seems steadfast and solid, which is pretty wonderful. The couple currently resides in North Carolina, but will be coming back home to Minnesota for their wedding next summer! We couldn't be more excited for these two and all they have in store!

Anna and Derek have a great story. The couple met when they were both a part of their friend's wedding! She was a bridesmaid and he was the best man. (I mean, it's totally out of a romantic comedy, right?) Derek asked for Anna's number that night, with her parents standing right beside her, and from that point on this couple grew to find love! I have many different connections with this couple, but the coolest might be that I was a witness to their engagement and I didn't even know it! Derek proposed to Anna under the marquee of the Parkway Theater, on a snowy night in Minneapolis. I had just happen to be driving by and took note of how romantic the snowflakes and the sign was! When the couple came into the studio to meet me, I could barely believe that it was them! For their engagement session, we took a walk around Minnehaha Parkway with their adorable dog, Archie. This couple could not be more adorable and I am so happy the universe brought us all together for this moment in their lives!

Ellie and John's wedding can only be described as a timeless, elegant St. Paul wedding...with a lot of fun! On one hand, the couple chose classic looks - with the groomsmen in black tie and the bride in a stunning dress from L'atelier Couture. On the other hand, there were pops of color and fun - with the bridesmaids all in different colored dresses and yellow sunglasses for the entire party! 317 on Rice Park was the perfect venue for this couple's wedding - with the rich wood and big windows - it complimented the enchanted theme quite perfectly! I first met this couple a few years ago, when Ellie was a guest at Alex + Brian's wedding. Being invited to photograph her own wedding day is truly an honor! We couldn't be happier for John and Ellie on tying the knot and officially becoming Mr. and Mrs. Barragry! LOVEe

Brittney and Pete have been together for 8 years, but they new about only 1 month into their relationship that this was 'the one'. Over the years, they have grown and have built a really solid foundation for their relationship and life. I suppose we could say this is both a literal and figurative statement, as Pete *literally* built the couple their first home with his own hands. For the last year, this groom-to-be has been working to build them a home, while Brittney has been working to plan their wedding. Family, friends and the couple's roots are incredibly important to them, so we went back to the area where they both grew up and will settle themselves. It's a gorgeous property, with rolling hills, woods, gravel roads and one gorgeous couple! Congrats to Brittney and Pete on their engagement! Stay tuned for their wedding this summer!

A couple of months after Maggie and Mike tied the knot at a private ceremony in Palm Springs, the couple threw a spectacular party back home in Minneapolis for their extended group of loved ones! And when I say spectacular, I mean it! This event was full of awe-inspiring details and some of the greatest vendors that the Minneapolis industry has to offer! The inspiration behind the design, that the ladies of Mimi Design dreamed up, was to bring the feel of Palm Springs back to Minnesota. There was a slideshow, cactus, lots of modern design, a live painter and even a projection of a pool! How cool is that?! Aprés Party also built a stunning tent structure - complete with a glass roof! Our team really came together to document the Walker Event for Maggie and Mike! I had another wedding booked this day, so Thea Volk and Jackson Faith of our Rivets and Roses team were the photographers for this special night! It was so fun to see the evening thru their images! Congratulations to Maggie and Mike on all of the celebrations, but mostly on getting married! What a party it has been!

Maggie and Mike are in every way a power couple. They are smart, driven and successful. At the same time, this couple is up for a trip across the world or a walk around their neighborhood with their dogs. They have created a relationship on an incredible friendship and because of this, they are really a team-for-life and I greatly admire that! The groom, Mike, just so happens to work in the wedding industry, so when it came to planning their big day, it was important for the couple to create a special space for a private ceremony...and then have a party. Palm Springs is a place that Maggie and Mike travel to often and in March, the couple invited their immediate family to a private property for their wedding ceremony. I was lucky enough to document this event and the day was truly stunning! We spent the day going thru the city, adventuring into the desert and hitting up some of the hot spots in Palm Springs for their photos. When it came to the ceremony, Maggie and Mike passed around their wedding rings to each family member to bless - and I don't think there was a dry eye in the group. It was such a special moment! A couple of months later, Maggie and Mike hosted a wedding party at the Walker Art Museum, back in Minneapolis, to celebrate the marriage! That is coming soon in Part 2 of their blog feature!

Katharine and Ryan are a couple who chose Minneapolis as a destination location for their wedding! Their family and friends traveled from across the country to experience the Twin Cities and it was so fun to hear how much they loved our city! The couple chose one of the most scenic venues, the Mill City Museum, for their event and though the day brought a lot of rain, Katharine and Ryan braved the weather and still got married outside! I absolutely LOVED that they chose to carry on with having their ceremony and photos outdoors. Our team was talking after we left for the night and we all felt like the day offered a little more adventure than usual - and we loooooved the umbrellas! Congratulations to Katharine and Ryan on tying the knot!

Jessica + Elroy's wedding officially kicked off the busy start to our 2015 wedding season and it was a gorgeous start. Their wedding weekend started with a traditional Catholic Indian ceremony called the Roce, where the couple is blessed by their guests. The next day, the festivities continued with their American ceremony + reception at the new Solar Arts Building. The bride is a familiar face for us here in the Minneapolis wedding scene, as she is one of the designers for Munster Rose, so it was only fitting that she had a great lineup of vendors (you can see who below!). My favorite moment of the day was after the ceremony, the couple took a moment to themselves. It was then that I overheard Elroy whisper to Jessica, "You were totally worth the wait." I think everyone who is a witness to this couple's love is inspired. Congratulations to Jessica and Elroy on their marriage! We are so happy for you guys!

I first met Libby when her sister was getting married back in 2010. Then, one of Libby's best friends was also one of our wedding clients in 2011 and I had the pleasure of photographing her again in a wedding party! I was THRILLED to get a phone call from her a couple of months ago, asking me to photograph her wedding! Alex and Libby have known one another for years and it was in their college years that they started dating! They have supported each other thru their careers, traveled to many lovely places and now they are about to embark on their latest adventure - getting married! This couple is a part of the crowd that I call the 'original North Loopers'. You know, the people who just KNEW it would be cool and moved there years ago, which is where we went for their session. Congratulations to Libby and Alex on their engagement! I can't wait for the wedding day and to see the whole crew again!

Adam and Katherine are a really incredible couple, who is also very inspiring to be around. During their photo shoot, Katherine said, " I'm sure I would look really cool with a serious face on, but I simply can't stop smiling! This is so great!" That is what I love the most about these two. They always bring a warm, positive energy to whatever they are doing and whomever they are with. It's contagious, in the best way and I walked away from their engagement session with a smile on my face for the rest of the day! Adam and Katherine were real troopers. The weather was a little gloomy for their session, but they rose to the occasion and brought a great umbrella - and were still up for climbing on rooftops to catch the views of Lowertown in St Paul. And above all else - this couple's chemistry is undeniable! Congratulations to Katherine and Adam on their engagement! I can't wait for the wedding!

Team Update!

Hello everyone! We've been on a little hiatus from our wedding blog for a couple of months now and I wanted to fill you in on all of our studio happenings here! During the winter months, we take the time to catch up on all of the projects and ideas that go on the back burner during our busy wedding season. We also take this time to pursue new work and push our businesses forward. As many of you know, weddings are just a portion of the work that I photograph. All year round, our staff stays busy supporting the commercial + editorial side of the business and I am SO happy to announce that we have launched the new website for eliesajohnson.com. This project has needed to happen for a couple of years now and it feels SO great to have a new, clean home for that body of work! I encourage you all to check it out! Screen Shot 2015-03-17 at 1.17.14 PM

Additionally, we have been spending a lot of time pumping up our sister company, Rivets and Roses! This season, we hired 3 new photographers, rounding out that studio to 6 talented artists. I am in awe of the work that they produce on a daily basis and I couldn't be more proud of the group we currently have for this brand. For those of you who are new to Rivets and Roses, this brand is a wedding photography studio in which I have hand picked our artists to be a part of. All of our photographers shoot different kinds of work on their own and come to the Rivets studio to photograph weddings! They are not just talented, they are wildly talented. If you are a couple looking for a great wedding photography experience, I encourage you to check them out! Collections begin at $2800. Below are some of our latest happenings on the @rivetsandroses instagram account!

Amanda and Luca's wedding was simply so much fun. From the moment I entered their hotel rooms on the morning of, I knew it was going to be a good day, based on the gold/black and glitter combo I saw around the room! I have really enjoyed getting to know Amanda and Luca and I think their wedding was absolutely perfect for them. The couple choose to have an intimate wedding a the Loring Pasta Bar with the reception following at the Varsity Theater. Way back when we were discussing their engagement session, Luca shared his love for music and live concerts, so we made a stop at First Ave. It's only fitting that they chose to have their reception at a concert venue, too! Their guests mingled and danced the night away and one really great thing to see was how perfectly Amanda and Luca's family and friends blended. There were bright lights, a marquee, sparklers AND an ice-rink-appearance...let alone, the actual marriage! I would say this gives us all a lot of reason to celebrate such a great day!

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Potter! You did it!

Dan and Andrea are not only a gorgeous couple, but they have a GREAT love story.

Both Dan and Andrea went to the same high school growing up and knew of each other. 5 years ago, Dan's brother married Andrea's sister and it was after their sibling's wedding that they felt a spark with one another. About a year and a half ago, they decided to pursue a romantic relationship and felt the need to take it seriously off the bat, since their families were already connected by marriage. I mean, if they broke up, that could be weird.

Luckily for Dan and Andrea, their relationship has grown into an incredible thing and Dan proposed on a beautiful hot fall day at the end of September, on a boat that was very reminiscent of one of our favorite dates on the Fourth of July.

Both Andrea and Dan are big family people, both with strong traditions that they have now both been a part of over the years. Choosing a Christmas tree on the day-after-Thanksgiving is a big tradition for Andrea's family, so for their engagement session, we went to the Krueger Tree Farm to take in the Minnesota landscape.

I am so happy and excited for this couple!

For Mary and Nick's engagement session, we shot inside the Walker Art Museum, which is one of my favorite modern spaces to be in. It's so bright and refreshing, which matches the outside vibe of Minnesota right now - without the cold! Mary and Nick are a wonderful couple and I have had so much fun getting to know these two! I look forward to sharing more photos of them on their wedding day!

This couple stuck to tradition and waiting to see one another until their ceremony, which is always such a special moment. The connection between these two is amazing to witness. They have a bond that, from the stories of their family and friends, seems to have been there since the moment they met. Lindsey and Trevor had a gorgeous day, with an intimate church ceremony, followed by a beautiful reception at the Golden Valley Country Club. The fabulous ladies of Mimi Design made the space look incredible and between the atmosphere and special moments, it was a wonderful evening to celebrate! Congratulations to Lindsey and Trevor!

She works for two of my favorite vendors - Munster Rose and Bash Collective. Needless to say, this girl knows what she wants when it comes to her wedding and I am so excited to be their photographer. I met Jessica and her fiance, Elroy, as a couple last winter. I had always heard her talking about him, but it was SO great to see them 1) out of work mode and 2) together. They are the best couple. Quirky, Fun, and so excited to be building their life with one another. We all headed up to the north shore for their engagement session, since it was here that Elroy proposed. This is a special place for this couple and I'm always up for a road trip!

Congratulations to Jessica and Elroy on their engagement!

It has truly been one of the most lovely seasons that I can remember and the colors have stuck around for much longer than expected, which has been such a treat. For Ellie and John's engagement session, we spent some time around the area that Ellie grew up in and it was STUNNING. There were walking paths that were so enchanting, covered bridges and a perfectly breezy lake. This couple is so great. I first met them when they were guests at one of our favorite weddings 2 years ago. After John proposed, I was lucky enough to be asked to photograph their wedding and I couldn't be more excited! Congratulations to Ellie and John!

Needless to say, our client/photographer connection was strong, but after meeting her fiance Ben, I am even more pleased with this couple. They are so fun and have an outlook and energy for life that is so contagious. The couple chose to have an Uptown engagement session, which is where they spend much of their time. It was a gorgeous fall day and I couldn't be happier with these photos! Congratulations to Maddie and Ben on their engagement!
